Abstract
In the context of rapid urbanization, green exposure has become a crucial factor in influencing life satisfaction. However, the impact of gender differences on this relationship has not been fully understood. This study, conducted in Shanghai, China, uses green space data such as the green View index (GVI) and multi-stage sampling questionnaire data to construct linear and structural equation models, exploring how gender influences the relationship between green space exposure and satisfaction. The findings indicate that the influence of green space exposure on satisfaction is related to gender. Male satisfaction is more affected by the Green Accessibility Index (GAI), while female satisfaction is more influenced by the (GVI), mainly through indirect effects. These results underscore the need for urban planning to consider gender differences since it is not enough to rely solely on the construction of partial green exposure dimensions to achieve efficient and fair development, which puts forward a demand for further research on theories related to green exposure and human well-being.
