Abstract

The Fly River system, spanning roughly 75,000 km2 in western Papua New Guinea (Fig. 1), is fed by three primary tributaries. The Ok Tedi originates from the Hindenburg Ranges, the Upper Fly from the southern sections of the Victor Emanuel Range, and the Strickland sources from both the Victor Emanuel and Central Ranges.
