Abstract

The paper introduces a simple and low-cost process for fabricating diode-type field emission display unit with 16 × 16 matrix arrays of pixel. Screen printing technology is adopted to prepare carbon nano-tubes (CNTs) cathode and phosphoranode, including silver electrodes as the cathode conductive layer, CNTs layer, and phosphor layer. The patterns of above-mentioned layers were all designed elaborately to realize 16 × 16 matrix addressing. Glass firt was used during sealing the CNT cathode and phosphor anode. After gas exhaustion by ultra-high vacuum exhaust station and assembly of driving circuit, a 16 ×16 matrix-addressable diode CNT-FED module was achieved. And it's easy to realize the fabrication of different sizes FED by jointing corresponding modules. Furthermore, in order to mi prove the weak adhesion and low conductivity of phosphor, proper CNTs and magnesium nitrate (Mg(NO 3) 2) were added respectively to phosphor paste before screen printed, and both resulting better display quality.
