Abstract

Audio system performance evaluation plays a significant role not only for the product selection of users, but for validation of design specification. Among these parameters, dynamic range and spurious free dynamic range indexes are two of the most important portions. Spurious free dynamic range index only considers the highest harmonic or spurious while the dynamic range only consider the root mean square of the noise floor, and there is no evaluation method for the other part of the spectrum band width. In this paper, we proposed a universal method that evaluates the dynamic range performance of audio system corresponding to different allowable distortion degrees, which is called moving filtering line (MFL). The low complexity calculation method is realized by setting a MFL in the system output signal spectrum. Finally, we carried out simulation on MATLAB and performed experiments on a hardware platform, whose results verified its flexibility and effectiveness.
