Abstract
In this study we examined the measurement invariance of the Das-Naglieri Cognitive Assessment System (D-N CAS; Naglieri & Das, 1997), which is based on the Planning, Attention, Simultaneous, and Successive (PASS) processing theory, across two cultures. One-hundred-twenty grade 1 English-speaking Canadian and 181 grade 1 Mandarin-speaking Chinese children were tested on the basic D-N CAS battery. The results of multigroup confirmatory factor analyses indicated that the factor loadings, the variances, and the covariances were similar across the two groups. These findings suggest that D-N CAS could provide a useful framework for understanding intelligence across cultures.
