Entangling particle-like and field-like optical qubits at a distance

Abstract

We demonstrate the remote creation of entanglement between particle-like and field-like optical qubits, i.e. hybrid entanglement of the form boxv;+〉boxv;α〉+boxv;-α〉boxv;, where boxv;±〉 correspond to a two-level qubit system and boxv;±〉 to coherent states with opposite phases. Such a resource enables to link computational bases of different nature.
