Abstract

The photonic transmission of the heterostructures with defects was studied. It was demonstrated that the nontransmission frequency ranges adjacent to transmission channels can be enlarged by introducing defects in multiple heterostructures. These structures give wider nontransmission ranges than that of the nonheterostructures. The results show that multiple-channeled filters with wide nontransmission frequency ranges can be obtained by adjusting the positions and thicknesses of defects.
