Abstract

The influence of dc Joule annealing of electroplated Ni80Fe 20/Cu composite wires on their giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect was investigated. The optimum procedure of dc Joule annealing and the cooling rate against the magnetoimpedance ratio of the annealed wire were also investigated. It was observed that the stepped annealing is superior with respect to single step annealing. The results showed that the magnetoimpedance effect of the composite wires could be enhanced by dc Joule annealing.
