Abstract

The effect of ion implantation on surface energy of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) was investigated. It was found that the total surface energy increased after implanting with the fluence of 1×1014 ions/cm2 regardless of ion species. It was also shown that the surface roughness increased with an increase in the fluence.
