Abstract

This paper focuses on analyzing the effects and principles of the inductor technology (inductor peaking and tuning technology) in the optoelectronic integrated circuit optical receiver, and the optimum inductor designing rules. Based on the precise noise equivalent circuit model of the active device (including MSM optoelectronic detector and HEMT) and the equivalent circuit model of the MMIC positive squared spiral inductor, this paper proposed a simple matrix analytical method of calculating the trans-impedance and noise characteristic of optical receivers, and discussed the effect of the inductor technology to the performance of optical receivers, moreover points out that the design of inductors should consider the stability, transimpedance characteristics and noise characteristics comprehensively
