Abstract

The effects of the addition B 2O 3 on the sintering behavior, microstructure and microwave dielectric properties of 5Li 2O-1Nb 2O 5-5TiO 2 (LNT) ceramics have been investigated. With low-level doping Of B 2O 3 (≤2 wt%), the LNT ceramics could be fully densified at around 900°C without much degradation in microwave dielectric properties. Similar structures and microwave dielectric properties could be obtained for the densified 1-2 wt% B 2O 3-doped ceramics. The 1 wt% B 2O 3-doped ceramics sintered at 900°C have better microwave dielectric properties of ε r = 41.2, Q × f = 9320 GHz (at 4.66 GHz), τ f = 42 ppm/°C The LNT ceramics could be applied in multilayer microwave devices requiring low sintering temperatures.
