Abstract

This paper presents a current-mode multiphase sinusoidal oscillator (MSO) employing current-controlled current differencing units (CCDUs). The proposed oscillator consists of only one CCDU and one grounded capacitor for each phase, and it can generate arbitrary 2n-phase current-output signals (n≥2) with equally spaced in phase and equal amplitude. Compared with the related reported current differencing unit (CDU) based configurations, the proposed structure has better performance in terms of the number of required passive resistors, the ability for electronic adjustment of the OF and OC, and the easy fabrication of integrated circuit (IC). Moreover, the described oscillator has low-sensitivity performance and high-output impedance. The theoretical results are confirmed by PSPICE simulation.
