Abstract

By using our recently constructed many-body potential, the temperature-dependent structure and dynamics of lead surface are studied. The results on (100) surface are compared with that of the (110) and (111) surface. We find that, different from the non-melting behavior of the (111) surface and the melting behavior of (110) surface, the (100) surface is an incompleted melting surface. These results are in good agreement with the experimental data. The possible reason for the different behavior of these surfaces is also discussed.
