Abstract

Nowadays, global developers scale in GitHub is growing rapidly, which are beneficial to the development of Open Source Software (OSS) ecosystem. Analyzing and visualizing global trends of GitHub developers is significant. However, how to visualized analyze global trend of developers is challengable, because there exists a scarcity in geo-details about GitHub developers. A geo-visualized analysis system driven by GitHub log data has been proposed for global trends of developers. Based on the GitHub logs from 2008 to 2023, we created a novel dataset about developers with fine-grained geo-details. Then, a multi-dementioned analysis on global trends of OSS developers scale has been carried out. This work reveals the patterns and trends of global OSS developers over the past 16 years, especially in spatio-temporal dimension.
