Abstract
Creative individuals typically possess distinct personality traits that set them apart. This chapter explores the assessment of creative personality, focusing on three key areas: (1) identifying creative personality traits, (2) the methods for assessing creative personality, and (3) the strengths and weaknesses of these methods. Early studies on creative personality often used biographical and historiometric methods or various personality assessments to identify common traits in renowned creators. Creative personality traits have been based upon various models, such as the Super-Traits Model and the Big Five Model, highlighting traits like openness to experience, conscientiousness, and extraversion. Assessment methods range from self-reports, including the Adjective Check List, to process-oriented approaches, like the Problem-construction test. Each method has its strengths and limitations, reflecting the ongoing evolution in understanding and measuring creative personality. The intersection of cutting-edge technologies, including neuroimaging, virtual and augmented reality, and machine learning, are enriching the approaches to creativity personality assessment and advancing our grasp of creativity.
