Abstract

In this work a recently introduced chaos suppression method [M.A. Matías and J. Güémez, Phys. Rev. Lett. 72 (1994) 1455] through proportional perturbations in the system variables is extended to conservative maps. Four kinds of periodic pulses added are discussed. The performance of the method is shown by application to the two-dimensional standard map. The periodic windows controlled by periodic pulses are stable in the presence of weak external noise.
