Abstract

Aim: To explore the effect of cognitive-behavioral intervention on children with typical autism. Methods: By case study, a 5 year-old autistic boy received cognitive-behavioral training including play therapy, behavioral intervention, cognitive and nonverbal communication training, and behavioral correction. Results: Positive and passive eye contact increased significantly; verbal communication training was ineffective; nonverbal communication training produced obvious effect, but it decreased due to short-term termination of training, and would develop slowly after training restarted. Conclusion: Cognitive-behavioral intervention has different training effect in different fields of autism, and the behavioral intervention plays the main role. Individualized training plan for autistic children is necessary.
