Abstract

This paper summarizes the progress of international research on temporary clusters and development tendency of trade fairs, with information collected on three international trade fairs which took place at Shanghai and Chengdu. We discuss how the function of trade fairs work on concentrating global-dimension enterprises in such a short time which produce so much information exchange and knowledge transfer. We consider, international trade fairs, this kind of temporary clusters have played an irreplaceable role on knowledge innovation and the diversity of enterprise networks. In other words, this kind of temporary clusters which create 'global buzz' by face-to-face contacting exceed the boundary of permanent clusters, and become a complementarity of permanent clusters.
