Abstract

Preliminary experiments concerning the distribution of exchange field and spin polarization of conduction electrons in nonmagnetic Cu layers have been undertaken in Fe/Cu multilayers by NMR. The fine structure of the spin echo signal of 63Cu nuclei showed that the sign of the spin polarization oscillated with an average period of about 4-5 Å, which was expected from RKKY theory.
