Abstract

Fullerenes have been successfully doped into two kinds of high temperature optical glasses. Doped fullerenes density is about 0.01wt%. The preparation method was briefly introduced. Sample was fabricated into a 10 mm diameter slice. Transmission spectrum of 1.56 mm thick fluophosphate glass doped with fullerenes and that of 1 mm thick phosphate glass doped with fullerenes were measured at wavelengths of 200 nm-1600 nm. Compared with the transmission spectra of undoped glasses, it was found that there is a spectacular additional absorption band in visible region, and the eigen absorption edge of optical glasses doped with fullerenes shows a significant blue-shift.
