Abstract

One new species, Agryllus apterus He sp. nov., is described from Yunnan, China. This new species is wingless, which is different from all other Agryllus species. The type specimens are deposited in Museum of Biology, East China Normal University (ECNU). The genus Agryllus was established by Gorochov in 1994. Now there are four species recorded from China, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam as in Fig. 1 (Agryllus euzonus status is doubtful). These crickets are mute species with similar forewings in males and females (Fig. 2). In this study, one new wingless species is first reported and described from western Yunnan. This extends the northern distribution of this genus.
