Abstract

A distributed algorithm is proposed to synchronize femtocells through air interface. A femtocell could listen to the synchronization signals of its neighbouring base stations to extract time information of these neighbours. Then it updates its time according to the neigh-bours’ time, directed by a global optimization criterion in a distributed manner. Finally all femtocells will have same time information. A common framework is summarized to deal with many scenarios with different configuration of weight coefficients.
