Abstract
The resource chemistry of sulfur involves the acquisition, conversion, and application of sulfur resources, encompassing multiple fields such as life sciences, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, materials science, energy storage, and food science. Studying the chemical properties of sulfur and resource utilization technologies contributes to the advancement of new materials and technologies, promoting sustainable economic development. This review will begin by discussing the various forms in which sulfur resources exist, followed by detailed descriptions of sulfur-containing bulk chemicals, sulfur-based fragrances and flavors, and sulfur-containing pharmaceuticals and pesticides. With the increasing demand for environmental protection and sustainable development, the resource utilization of sulfur is transitioning towards greener practices. The development of lithium-sulfur batteries demonstrates the potential of sulfur in the field of new energy, while the application of sulfides in wastewater treatment and environmental remediation is also gaining attention.
