Abstract

In order to collect the spatial distribution data of amphibians in mangrove wetlands, line transect surveys of amphibians at night were conducted twice in the mangrove wetlands of Dongzhaigang Hainan, from July to November,2022. In total,49 sample lines with a length of 200 m were laid in four types of sample mangrove wetland habitats:northern nearshore area, northern near-sea area, southern nearshore area and southern near-sea area. The spacing between each line was more than 500 m. Each sample line in each round was investigated once every night from 19:00 to 24:00,and repeated for three days. The survey results show that amphibian species diversity in the study area was low,and only five amphibian species, including Fejervarya moodiei,F. multistriata,Hylarana guentheri,Duttaphrynus melanostictus and Kaloula pulchra, were recorded. Fejervarya moodiei was the dominant amphibian species(accounting for 95. 23%)in the study area and the only amphibian that could be found in the near-sea mangrove wetland, while other four amphibian species could be seen in the nearshore mangrove wetland. Environmental water salinity reduced amphibian species diversity in the mangrove wetlands of intertidal zone, and was negatively correlated with amphibian abundance. In the spatial distribution of amphibian diversity, dispersal activities made mangrove wetlands have higher amphibian species richness in the nearshore than near-sea habitats, and water salinity significantly resulted in the lowest amphibian abundance in the northern near-sea habitats of the study area. The results of this study enrich our understanding of amphibian species diversity in mangrove wetlands of Hainan Province, which will be helpful for future protection and management of mangrove wetlands.
