Abstract

Fejervarya moodiei is the dominant amphibian species in mangrove wetlands,and is also a provincial key protected wild animal in Hainan Province. At present,our understanding of the spatial distribution pattern and influencing factors of F. moodiei in mangrove wetland type nature reserves is still relatively lacking. In order to deeply understand the spatial distribution of F. moodiei in the Hainan Dongzhaigang National Nature Reserve,49 fixed sample lines with a length of 200 m were laid out in the reserve,and three rounds of night line transect surveys were carried out from July 2022 to April 2023. The results showed that there were some spatial differences in the distribution of F. moodiei in the reserve. The core zone of the southern area harbored significantly greater abundance of F. moodiei compared to the buffer zone,and vice versa in the northern area,and there were significantly greater abundance of F. moodiei in the southern core zone than in the northern core zone. Ecological factors such as water salinity,air temperature,water temperature and tide height could affect the distribution of F. moodiei in the reserve. The number of F. moodiei recorded in the survey was negatively correlated with water salinity and pH value of environments,but positively correlated with air temperature,water temperature and tidal height respectively. This paper put forward two countermeasures and suggestions for the protection of F. moodiei:(1)planning the core zone of the southern area as the priority protection area of F. moodiei;(2)from the 49 fixed sample lines,20 samples(10 in the south and 10 in the north)which could record more F. moodiei were determined as future fixed monitoring sample lines,so as to make a scientific monitoring plan. This study enriched the ecological data of F. moodiei in the Hainan Dongzhaigang National Nature Reserve,and provided scientific basis for strengthening future protection and management of F. moodiei in mangrove reserves.
