Abstract
In response to the expanded expression requirements of the tube map, we propose two strategies to enhance information design; thematic hierarchy setting and symbolic functional expression. Taking Shanghai tube map as an example, we chose day and night departure time, inter-site time consuming, station toilets positions and scenic landmarks along the routes to conduct the experiment. The results show that the proposed design method can fully meet the needs of common users without switching information media or changing map form, and effectively integrate the new thematic content with the metro station line base, which provides an alternative solution for users to access thematic services quickly in a targeted manner. This design method can provide reference for improving the comprehensive spa-tial information service capability of tube map.
