Abstract
With the development of cartographic design research, the concepts and forms of maps have been constantly expanded, and its content expression has gradually shifted from science-dominated nature to the integration of science and art. Aiming at the current design needs of scenic tourist maps, such as theoretical construction, temporal sequence optimization of the map representations, and figuration of the attractiveness of binding forms, this study proposes a primary logical framework of scenic tourist maps, unifying four imageries upon the ‘real’,‘mental’,‘artificial’,and ‘perceptual’ modalities, and then provides the basic principles of ‘Spatio-temporal Imageries Formation’. Finally, taking Guilin Notes:Green Peaks,Magical Caves and Charming Water as an example,it elaborates how to complete the visual design of scenic tourist maps based on this concept. With the power of deconstructing natural landscape features, this strategy can give a theoretical basis and methodological reference for the future design of scenic tourist maps.
