Abstract
To study the distributional characteristics and contents of antibiotic residuals in municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill, samples including refuse and leachates were collected from the Laogang MSW landfill in Shanghai. The ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-3Q-MS) was used to quantify antibiotics concentrations in landfill samples. The obtained results shows that the concentrations of tetracyclines, sulfonamides, quinolones, macrolides and beta-lactams in solid wastes and leachates ranged from 0.1~4.9 μg•kg-1, nd~3245.0 ng•L-1,nd~16.3 μg•kg-1, nd~1360.0 ng•L-1,0.2~367.5 μg•kg-1, nd~6950.0 ng•L-1,LOQ~8.4 μg•kg-1, 0.3~9450.0 ng•L-1 and nd~2.8 μg•kg-1, nd~293.5 ng•L-1 respectively. Spatial and temporal differences regarding distribution of antibiotics were found in landfills: antibiotic concentrations in the 1.5 m-layer samples were higher than in 0.5 m ones. The total concentrations of detectable antibiotics in fresh leachates were higher than the mature leachates. The results in this study can provide the theoretical basis for the management of residual antibiotics in landfill.
