Abstract

P.E is a basic right that every individual should enjoy, and it plays an important role in the comprehensive development of the individuals' health and in fostering harmony and equity of the society. With the increasingly interconnected global ties and continual changes in the era, understanding the current status of the international P.E development and gaining insights into the future trend has become a topic of focus and a realistic challenge that needs to be urgently addressed in the field of P.E. The current status of P.E development in many countries and regions including China, the U.S, the U.K, the A.U and other countries and regions reveals that there are common characteristics in the development of international P.E such as the convergence of promoting health through P.E, the diversification and life-oriented nature of educational content, and the emphasis on the extension of the classroom inside and outside the campus. Meanwhile, it also analyzes challenges facing the current international development of P.E, including inadequate policy support, uneven allocation of educational resources, low emphasis on the subject importance, and insufficient training of high-quality P.E teachers. In view of these challenges, countermeasures are proposed. Firstly, globalization of P.E is needed for the future health and well-being of human beings. Digitalization of P.E is needed for the development of high-quality P.E. Specialization of PE is needed for lifelong participation in sports. Balanced distribution of educational resources is needed for P.E, and inclusive PE is needed for ensuring all the people's participation in sports. Finally, the future development direction of P.E in China should focus on high-quality P.E, bridging the gap between on and outside campus P.E activities, promoting inclusive education, constructing a professional development system for P.E teachers, and empowering P.E with digital technologies so as to enhance China's international influence in the field of P.E, to contribute wisdom and strength to the international P.E.
