Abstract

Based on the literature data from WOS and CNKI databases, this paper used CiteSpace software to draw knowledge visualization maps to review research progress of transport geography. The article compared the evolution of Chinese and international transport geography during three phases (1982-1997,1998-2007,2008-2019). The results showed that: researches have presented problem-oriented feature at home and board, and both have a systematic research framework. In comparison, focusing on global, transnational and cross-regional research at large scales and micro perspectives, foreign transport geography has a strong social and human orientation, and attaches importance to the combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis, as well as rule summary and mechanism exploration, presenting characteristics of criticism and diversification. China's research is oriented by national and regional strategies and policies, focusing on macro scale. There is a high degree of overlap between study areas and administrative divisions. It pays attention to the discussion of spatial pattern, spatial structure and spatial-temporal evolution rules based on spatial measurement, but lacks the discussion on the deeper causes of formation mechanism, which shows the characteristics of task with discipline and emphasizing statecraft. Finally, the paper put forward some forecasts on the future development trend of China's transport geography.
