Abstract
The present paper, sayingDudu, area commander-in-chief or high imperial commissioner, was a post based on generalship and it did not have necessary connection with the concurrent super/prefectship, observes that Emperor Wu of Southern Song(r. 502—549) abolishedChijie(Warrant-Bearing)Dudu, a general term for nine groups of first-tier high officials with second grade, in stipulating rules regarding generalship and this simplification effort directly affected the gradation of concurrent super/prefectship.
